Slowing Down

Its a taboo word : " Slowing down".
Unless its temporary
When on an indulgent traveling spree
Or a brief moment, just before daily drudgery haunts us
Why do we fear it?Is it the missing out?
Losing the race everyone's so keen to win?
If we just slow down?

If we just slow down
Eternity spent with my coffee.
Read a book and let my thoughts drift
Enjoy the breeze that brushes past my cheek
Hum a song in my cracked up voice
Stop and stare at a child laughing
Observe the cringe on a vegetable vendor's face

If we just slow down,
And stop wishing that I grow up
Face the Raw, grungy life monotony with ease
Think about the rainy day and my first kiss
Slow down and allow myself to write,
Only my memories with exaggerated nostalgia.

If we just slow down,
Savour the little, with most delight
Love the present with vengeance
Walk and sprint, swirl and stop,
And let life happen, a little at a time.

And while the race will be won and the accolades spent,
They will only savour it, if they would just slow down.
